Our Borders Are Opening From December, Are You Ready??

With the recent outbreak of Covid 19 Delta Variant Virus in the Central North Island, and the rumours of borders opening for Christmas,  the need for detailed cleaning and disinfecting is paramount. However, many organizations are not properly equipped with the knowledge on how to manage outbreaks through the cleaning and disinfecting process. Many Business Managers have misleading information regarding this through various unscientific claims available in the market today. For example, there are a number of 2 in 1 cleaning and disinfectant products available in the market today that claim to ‘provide lasting protection’ when used on surfaces. However, when these claims are not put to proper scientific tests, they are providing a false sense of security to the building occupants who are both your employees and customers.

“It is every individual’s responsibility to ensure cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces that are touched often (also called high-touch surfaces) are done effectively. This will decrease the risk of transmission of germs (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa) that cause infectious diseases.”

Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner,

Senior Director

Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC)

At QualGroup we follow  a scientific and validated efficient cleaning and disinfecting process to rid the surfaces of any lingering germs or viruses and fogging is an essential part of this. We  will  discuss with you a detailed plan on how to tackle this outbreak and work-in-hand with you to manage such outbreaks.

What is fogging/ decontamination cleaning?

There are different types of disinfecting methods available today and one of the popular methods followed by various cleaning companies and preferred by employers is the fogging method of disinfecting.

To understand fogging – It is the process where a disinfectant is transferred to a fogging machine which is then released into the atmosphere and surfaces as a mist/fog.

Does it help?

The Ministry of Health observes that fogging a room alone will not completely rid the room of the germs found here. Also Bridget Gardner – a pioneer in Australia’s High Performance Cleaning movement notes in her blogs that surfaces are often colonized by bacteria that make their own protective layer known as biofilms. These layers are so thick that a simple wipe, disinfectant and fogging is insufficient as germs can still thrive and multiply under biofilms.

How can QualGroup make a difference?

It will be efficient for every facility to have a fool-proof plan and documented strategy to handle outbreaks through with the cleaning, sanitization, and decontamination process.
