Our Story

QualGroup’s story began in 2014 when our founders, Vijo Madappilly Jose and Riya Cherian both with 10+ years of experience in nursing, infection prevention and control recognised a significant problem in the New Zealand cleaning industry. They observed that hospital-grade cleaning was used exclusively in hospitals and not available for commercial workplaces. Cleaning was often perceived merely as a visual task, leading to poor practices that often resulted in unhygienic spaces, employee health issues, decreased productivity, and an overall lack of motivation to perform at work.

Knowing the importance of a clean and hygienic workspace in overall health, staff morale, and illness prevention, they were surprised that such an important practice wasn’t available for commercial spaces. Kiwis spend a large proportion of their waking hours at work every week, yet low cleaning standards were accepted as the norm. Seeing this need in the market, Vijo and Riya founded QualGroup in 2014 (as a division of Quality Service Solutions Ltd.) with the mission to bring hospital-grade cleaning to commercial workplaces. Our unique High-Performance Cleaning approach ensures your workplace is cleaned and sanitised thoroughly.

As we further developed QualGroup, we discovered that the quality of training cleaners receive is quite low industry-wide. To ensure that our cleaners are trained thoroughly and perform to our consistently high standards, we established the QualClean Academy in 2020 post-covid. This way, you can feel confident knowing that the cleaners entering your workplace are trained and certified to some of the highest international standards and practices, ensuring quality and attentive care at every turn.

From our humble beginnings as a two-member team, we have grown to more than 30 staff, providing efficient and effective Commercial Cleaning Services to more than 50 businesses every day. Customers love us because we are locally based, have skilled trainers, provide consistently high-quality cleaning services, and give them peace of mind to focus on their priorities without needing to worry about cleaning hassles. Our open communication policy, ability to work on feedback quickly, and value-for-money solutions help us maintain long-lasting relationships with customers.
